Mr. Murr has worked in the appraisal, sales and leasing of
office, commercial and industrial properties and land over the past 38 years.
Graduating from OSU in 1965 as a real estate major with a B.S. degree, Jim
earned his MAI designation and associated with the Donald G. Culp
Company in 1974. He served as President of the Ohio Chapter of the American
Institute of Real Estate Appraisers and the Columbus Commercial, Industrial,
Investment Realtors in 1989 and 1990.
In 1989, he formed James L. Murr and Associates, an appraisal and
consulting firm that became affiliated with Mathews, Click Associates. Murr
and Associates was transferred to R.S. Garek Associates in 1998 and to Carey
Falor Realty Partners in 2004. Jim continues to apply his local knowledge and
expertise to transactions and appraisals of a variety of property types in
central Ohio.
Over the years, Jim has held ownership interests in multi-
family, commercial, light industrial, development land, office, mixed use,
personal storage and car-wash properties. He has been active on professional
committees with the Columbus Board of Realtors, where he also
serves as a mediator, and with the Columbus Community Development Loan
Committee. More recently, he has served on the Granville Comprehensive Plan
Review Committee, the Licking County Thornwood JEDD Committee, the Granville
JEDD/Utility Extension Committee, and the Granville Township Board of
Zoning Appeals.
Jim’s appraisal and brokerage clients include Bank One
and Bank One Trust, Bricker and Eckler Law firm, Cities of Columbus, Grove
City and Worthington, Chrysler Corporation, Franklin County Probate Court,
Highlights for Children Corporation, Holiday Retirement Corporation,
Huntington Bank and Huntington Trust Companies, Manley Deas Kocholsky Law
firm, National City Bank, New Albany Board of Education, Newark Library Board,
Norfolk and Southern Railroad, Ohio Power Company, Ohio State University,
Park National Bank, Resolution Trust Corporation, Ross Labs, Sherex Chemical
Corporation, Southgate Corporation, Taft Broadcasting, U.S. Bankruptcy Court,
Vorys Sater Seymore & Pease Law firm, and Worthington Industries,
among many other lending institutions and investors.
